We made it to southern Georgia this afternoon. This is our final stop before we are back in Brandon by tomorrow afternoon. The map of our travels looks crazy and the experiences we’ve had have been just as crazy, but I wouldn’t change a thing! Well, except maybe the wheel falling off thing 🙂 As I did last year I’d like to post my ‘Lessons Learned from the Road – 2019 version’:
- I learned – that you can’t judge a state by its name. Some of the states I thought would not be very interesting turned out to be beautiful and enjoyable.
- I learned – that camping is not really the best place for white things. Like white towels, white blankets, white clothes. Gray, brown or tan work best.
- I learned – that our new favorite drink is Jim Beam fire. Thank you Billy and Lisa for that one and congratulations on the wedding!!!!
- I learned – that I can live for three or four days without cell phone service, internet, or TV. (not too sure about John though)
- I learned – that the best freedom in life is sometimes not knowing (and not caring) what day of the week it is.
- I learned – that you can’t panic. Even if the wheels fall off.
- I learned – that John is still awesome and is the best ever at taking us all over the road and back. Thank you so much for all the hard work you do to make this all possible.
- I learned – that Montana really is God’s country.
- I learned – that even though we’re no longer young, our eyes can still be filled with wonder and our hearts with adventure, excitement and joy.
- I learned – that no hotdogs from a gas station = no passing out.
- I learned – that this country is an amazing place to live in, travel through and experience. We ran into a guy in Wyoming who was here visiting from the UK. He had traveled all over the world and we asked him where his favorite place to go was. He said that we have it all here in the US, we have the mountains, deserts, lakes, oceans and rivers, forests and canyons. Why would we need to go anywhere else when we have it all here? I agree – we are all very lucky to be here and to to be enjoying the freedom and beauty of this great country and it’s people.
Tomorrow we leave for Florida. We’ll clean out the RV and put her in storage behind the Elks lodge until our next trip, and then drive back to St. Pete Beach to our sweet little condo – which always seems huge after being in the RV for so many months. I can’t believe this year’s road trip is almost over. It’s been such an adventure and although I’m happy to be getting back, I’m also sad that it’s coming to an end. John and I have talked about taking some short trips this winter and then we’ll start planning for next spring so we’ll see where travels take us next.
Sounds like you guys had an amazing trip! My dad is the luckiest person in the world to have married you! Matt and I will have to try to visit Florida soon.
